Dry Needling
Dry needling is a highly effective form of trigger point therapy . With dry needling, myofascial trigger points and fascia can be treated. A specially trained physiotherapist or physician will insert a sterile acupuncture needle into the trigger point. The needle action reactivates oxygen supply to the contracted muscle fiber and fascia, reduces inflammation, improves blood flow, and thus provides lasting relief from tension. The needle insertion into the trigger point causes a short, localized muscle twitch in the muscle band, which patients often describe as a "pleasant pain" and a "relaxing" sensation.
